The $1400 price tag could be a bit steep, but it is often available to make it more affordable. The unit is beautiful, and the base station takes up very little space in the corner of the room.

The design of this robot addresses some of the issues we've encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum models, for example, the brushes getting caught in hair, and the brush not being able to reach floors with no furniture. The sweeping capabilities are impressive on carpets as well as bare flooring. The vacuum/mop system has a high amount of debris collection and the mop can saturate bare floors quickly.

The mops have a sophisticated system that cleans along the edges of walls, and around furniture.  Full Article  can easily avoid obstacles such as food bowls, toys, and backpacks. It is able to get tangled or get stuck with smaller, more compact objects like shoelaces, USB cable, and pen.

We used this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors in an open, large floor plan. It cleaned and mopped the 90m2 space in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.

Miele Scout RX3

Miele is a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the field of robotic vacuuming. This new robot aims to take it to the next level by incorporating innovative features and top-of-the-line cleaning performance.

The 8.5 cm height lets it fit under furniture with ease, while front cameras and infrared sensors assist it navigate obstacles and thresholds with ease.

In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda near corners and on baseboards The Scout RX3 was impressive. Its 2,500Pa of suction was a little weaker than other robots but it moved quickly and was very quiet. It did not mop and its removable cleaning pad was difficult to attach. It also couldn't take on dirt that had dried up.

The app is basic, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very intuitive or responsive. And it's also a little unreliable when it comes returning to the charging station after a run -- other robots can follow a previous route or sensibly follow a wall until they reach their destination, but the RX3 is a fumbler until it finally gives up and sends a failure message to your phone.

Another issue we encountered was with its intelligent features, particularly the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. While it did a great job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily caught by socks and cables, and it was not able to manage the tassels of carpets. That's why we chose not to include it on our Best Buy list. With a decent price tag and impressive performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering in the event you're looking to find a smarter alternative to traditional uprights.
